Syria has a long tradition of entrepreneurship and the family TOUMEH is a typical example.
Mr. Nabil TOUMEH was a successful businessman who built, over the years, a thriving trading business with national and regional dimensions. He epitomized the entrepreneurial zeal of the country and people. Second generation TOUMEH followed the footsteps, by moving to today’s modern business structure. A beginning was made in 1975 with TOUMEH Group and the pace has only increased ever since.
Many decisions, some of them difficult, were made in order to guarantee a conversion of what was essentially a traditional trading organization into a modern day business. The year 1987 witnessed a major shift into that direction. A substantial restructuring took place and the visible contours of a modern organization emerged. With Mr. Nabil TOUMEH for one, a measure of specialization evolved opting for areas of business that he preferred and where he saw a prospect. The academic engineering background of Mr. Mohammad TOUMEH and his keen interest in IT, led to a logic preference for engineering-related lines of business and the emergence, in 1987, of TOUMEH International.
Today TOUMEH International is a holding company with ten subsidiaries. The subsidiaries cover a wide range of products and services reflecting the realities of globalization and the technological revolution that the world is going through. The range is wide, from information technology to telecommunication, TV production, advertising, engineering and contracting, to import and export trade, industrial equipment and tourism, printing & publishing, Magazines and decor & furniture. It is all part of a strategy of responding to the transformation needs of the Syrian economy and the expansionary vision of the regional markets.
